17 Feb
Summary
- Heavy rain and possible snow warning issued for southern England.

- Significant rainfall amounts predicted, especially over higher ground.

A potent weather system is set to bring heavy rain and the chance of snow to England's south coast. A weather warning is active from Wednesday morning until Thursday morning, with forecasters predicting significant rainfall, potentially leading to localized flooding and travel disruptions.
Areas including Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Hampshire, and Wiltshire are expected to experience spells of rain. During Wednesday night, higher elevations may see some snowfall. Accompanying the precipitation will be strong east to north-easterly winds, which could exacerbate any adverse effects on the ground.
The Met Office anticipates 10-20mm of rain quite widely, with some locations possibly receiving up to 30mm. Dartmoor could see as much as 50mm of rain. Separately, a snow warning covers parts of Wales and central England from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning.
