UK Braces for Snowfall: Wintry Weather Ahead
31 Jan
Summary
- Snow showers are predicted for northwestern and southwestern UK.
- Yellow rain warnings are active for Northern Ireland and SW England.
- A strong jet stream is steering low-pressure systems towards the UK.

Wintry conditions, including snow showers, are forecast for several parts of the UK before the end of January. The Met Office predicts these conditions will primarily affect northwestern and southwestern regions tonight and tomorrow. Currently, yellow rain warnings are active for Northern Ireland and southwest England, with further rainfall expected early next week.
Low pressure systems are expected to dominate the weather throughout the weekend, bringing intermittent rain and showers across much of Britain. Drier periods with some sunshine are anticipated on Sunday.
Temperatures are generally expected to remain around normal for the season. However, colder air persisting in the far northeast poses a continued risk of snow over higher ground.
