UK Braces for Late April Snowfall Amidst Spring Thaw Reversal
18 Apr
Summary
- Snowfall predicted across parts of England and Wales by April 30.
- Wales, especially Powys and Snowdonia, likely to see heaviest snow.
- Met Office warns of cold air and potential wintry showers in late April.

Spring temperatures in Britain are poised for a dramatic reversal as forecasts indicate snow sweeping across England and Wales by April 30. Following the warmest day of the year on April 9, with temperatures reaching 26.6C, new weather maps from WXCharts show wintry conditions returning. Snowfall is expected to begin around midnight and peak by 6am, with Wales anticipated to receive the brunt of this cold blast.
The heaviest snow is likely to fall in mid-Wales' Powys, extending into the higher grounds of Snowdonia and along the northwest coast, including Anglesey. In England, the Midlands and North are in the line of fire, with areas like Manchester, Huddersfield, and Bradford potentially waking up to snow. Lighter snowfall may also affect parts of Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, and even Bath.
The Met Office has corroborated these predictions, warning that cold air could sweep across much of the UK in the latter half of April. A long-range forecast suggests that while dry weather is generally expected, there will be exceptions. Cold spells, if they occur, are predicted to be short-lived before milder conditions re-establish.
