UK Snow Alert: 30cm Blizzard to Hit This Month
13 Jan
Summary
- Heavy snow, around 30cm, is predicted to fall in a blizzard later this month.
- Temperatures are expected to plummet to -4C in western Scotland.
- Met Office warns of potential 'winter hazards' from January 17-26.

An imminent Arctic blast is set to bring heavy snow to the UK, with weather maps indicating up to 30cm could fall in a blizzard later in January. Following a brief milder spell, forecasters are warning that wintry conditions are returning.
Low pressure systems moving in from the north and west are expected to bring unsettled weather, with snow likely where cold Arctic air meets incoming moisture. A specific system from the northwest on January 26th is anticipated to cause significant snowfall, particularly in northern England, Scotland, and Wales.
Temperatures are forecast to drop as low as -4C in central and western Scotland. The Met Office has highlighted a period from January 17th to 26th as having the potential for "winter hazards," including heavy rain and windy conditions, alongside colder spells in the north and east.
