Colder conditions are gradually spreading southwards across the UK as an Arctic Maritime air mass moves in. This shift will bring rain on Thursday and Friday, which is expected to turn into sleet and then snow.
Initially, snow will fall on higher ground, but it will descend to lower elevations for a time. The Scottish Highlands are predicted to receive the deepest snow due to their elevation, while western Scotland could see around 16cm.
Northern England is also forecast to be significantly impacted. Areas like Yorkshire may experience up to 14cm of snow, according to weather data. These changes mark a substantial shift in weather patterns for the region.
