UK Heatwave: London Braces for 31C Scorcher
1 Jul
Summary
- Heatwave to return, with London expecting peak temperatures.
- Southern UK to remain dry and warm, north to see rain.
- Temperatures expected to reach 31C in the capital by Monday.

Temperatures are expected to rise across the UK as a new heatwave approaches, with London anticipated to experience the most intense heat. The southern and southeastern parts of the country are forecasted to remain predominantly dry and warm throughout the midweek period.
In contrast, northern and western regions are expected to see more variable weather patterns. Showers and longer spells of rain, particularly heavy and frequent, are predicted for Scotland and northern England this coming weekend. Glasgow might experience temperatures around 18C.
However, southern areas will largely stay dry as temperatures begin to increase. Saturday's forecast indicates temperatures in the capital could reach approximately 28C by the afternoon, with a further rise expected daily, potentially hitting 31C by Monday afternoon.
Met Office deputy chief forecaster Tony Wisson noted that high pressure building from the Azores will bring settled, warm to very warm conditions for many, especially in England and Wales. He suggested temperatures could approach the high 20s Celsius across England, possibly reaching 30C in the southeast.
The outlook for Friday to Sunday indicates continued cloud and rain in northern regions. The south is expected to remain fine and dry with rising temperatures under strong sunshine. Thursday is forecast to be largely dry with sunny spells, though it will remain windy in the northeast and cool in the northwest, while the southeast remains warm.
