A Met Office red extreme heat warning is in effect for parts of southern England and Wales until midnight Thursday.

Amber warnings persist for other areas of England until Saturday. Meanwhile, southwest England faces potential heavy showers and thunderstorms on Thursday evening, accompanied by gusty winds and intense rainfall that could cause localized flooding.
