1 Aug
Summary
- July 2025 was UK's 5th warmest on record
- Two heatwaves hit the country in quick succession
- Drought conditions spread across 4 UK regions

According to the latest data from the Met Office, July 2025 was the UK's fifth warmest July on record. The average temperature across the country reached 16.8°C, slightly below the all-time high of 17.8°C set in 2006.
The prolonged hot weather saw the UK hit by two separate heatwaves in quick succession during the first half of the month. The first day of July brought the hottest temperature of the year so far, with 35.8°C recorded in Faversham, Kent.
The extended dry spell has already led to four areas of the UK being officially declared in drought: the East Midlands, north-west England, the West Midlands, and Yorkshire. This follows the warmest June on record for England and the second warmest June nationwide.
