UK Braces for 500-Mile Blizzard Amid Arctic Blast
13 Feb
Summary
- A 500-mile stretch of UK coastline will experience snow.
- Temperatures could plummet to -8C in parts of England.
- Snowfall risk increases for flooding in affected areas.

An Arctic Maritime air mass is bringing colder conditions to the UK, with snow and rain expected across large areas. Forecasters predict a 500-mile blizzard will affect the North Sea coastline from Aberdeen to Cromer early on Sunday. While most settled snow will be on higher ground, some areas might see up to 10cm accumulation.
This cold snap will cause temperatures to plunge, feeling as low as -8C in parts of East England and North Yorkshire due to strong winds. The risk of flooding is also elevated, exacerbating existing concerns for areas along the River Severn and other flood-prone regions. These wintry conditions are anticipated to continue into the following week.
