The system is currently located about 100 miles west-southwest of the Central Bahamas and is moving north-northwest at 7 mph. It is expected to strengthen into a hurricane by late Monday or Tuesday and approach the coast of South Carolina.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Humberto, a powerful Category 4 storm, has weakened slightly but remains a significant threat to Bermuda. Humberto is located about 585 miles south of Bermuda and is moving west-northwest at 13 mph. Forecasters say a tropical storm watch could be required in Bermuda later in the day, and swells from the hurricane could reach the U.S. East Coast on Monday.
In addition, Tropical Depression Nine is threatening parts of Cuba and the Bahamas with heavy rainfall and flash flooding. The Bahamas' Department of Meteorology has urged people in the northwest and central islands to prepare for tropical storm conditions.
