A yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph, has been issued for Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula. These conditions are predicted for Friday and Saturday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a gradual increase in maximum temperatures by 4-5 degrees Celsius over the next five days. Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 35.3°C on Tuesday, 1.2 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature was 15.4°C, 3.8 degrees below normal.
Mohali experienced the warmest night in Punjab with a minimum temperature of 19.8°C, while Patiala registered the state's highest maximum temperature at 37.2°C. Looking ahead, Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula will see steadily climbing mercury, with maximums reaching 38°C by the weekend.
Notably, Chandigarh has received 73.4 mm of rainfall since March 1, which is 178% above the seasonal normal.
