As of October 25th, 2025, Texas has been named the state most impacted by extreme weather in the United States. According to a recent analysis, the Lone Star State faces a relentless barrage of severe storms, leading the nation in several key categories.
Texas averages 103.2 tornadoes per year, 111 thunderstorm days, and a staggering 3,680 total storm events. Each of these storms leaves an average of $48,839 in property damage, amounting to a total damage bill of $179.7 million. Only Florida and Nebraska have recorded higher costs from extreme weather.
"Texas homeowners face constant threats to their property," said Instant Roofer CEO Jeff Berzolla. "From hail damage to wind destruction, your home needs to be ready for anything nature throws at it."
While some states only deal with one or two types of severe weather, Texas experiences a diverse range of natural disasters, including ice storms, heat waves, tornadoes, and hurricanes. This variety of extreme events has contributed to the state's top ranking on the extreme weather list.
