Telford and Wrekin Council has announced positive progress in road maintenance. The number of reported potholes across the borough saw a substantial decrease of 46% between early February and early March, falling from 276 to 148.
Concurrently, the council's repair teams significantly ramped up their efforts. By the end of February, they were repairing approximately 206 potholes per week, a notable increase from the 80 repairs conducted earlier in the month. Between February 2025 and January 2026, a total of 2,177 road defects were fixed.
Looking ahead, the council has committed to a substantial investment of almost £91 million over the next four years. This funding will be directed towards maintaining roads, footpaths, bridges, and other critical infrastructure. Deputy leader Richard Overton urged residents to continue reporting potholes as winter weather recedes, aiding the authority in its ongoing efforts to improve road conditions.
