Tamil Nadu is bracing for varied weather conditions over the next few days, as the India Meteorological Department predicts light to moderate showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across several districts. Chennai, Chengalpattu, and Kancheepuram can expect short spells of rain which may cause traffic disruptions and waterlogging. Temperatures in Chennai are forecast to be around 27-28°C at night and 37-38°C during the day.
Further rainfall is anticipated in districts like Cuddalore, Thanjavur, and Tiruchirappalli, along with Puducherry and Karaikal. A specific alert has been issued for isolated heavy rainfall and possible hailstorms on April 6 and 7 in the hill districts of Virudhunagar, Dindigul, and Theni, situated along the Western Ghats. Elevated and forested zones in ghat regions may also experience intense showers.
While southern Tamil Nadu and Western Ghats areas are expected to receive rain, the northern parts of the state are likely to stay dry, with temperatures gradually rising by 2-3°C. Cooler conditions persist in ghat regions, with Kodaikanal recording a minimum temperature of 11.7°C.
