Staffordshire Road to See Speed Limit Cut
20 Feb
Summary
- A main road in Staffordshire will have its speed limit reduced.
- Work begins Monday on A527 Congleton Road in Biddulph.
- Road closures are scheduled daily from 8 AM to 4 PM.

A significant road safety initiative is commencing on the A527 Congleton Road in Biddulph, Staffordshire. Starting Monday, February 24, 2026, the existing 40mph speed limit will be reduced to 30mph along a section extending from the Grange Road junction towards Forge Cottage. This change aims to enhance safety for all road users.
Highway officials confirmed that the decision follows community concerns about speeding traffic. The updated speed limit, coupled with new road markings and improved visibility, is expected to create a safer environment. Works, including vegetation clearance and the installation of new markings, are anticipated to last three to four days, weather permitting.
During the roadworks, the A527 will be closed daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A signed diversion will guide motorists via the A500, A34 Newcastle Road, and A34 Congleton Road. Authorities have requested patience from residents and drivers during this period.
