4 Aug
Summary
- 119 rail incidents reported due to Storm Floris
- Utilities companies working to reconnect properties with power outages
- Significant clear-up and repair work required before full transport services can resume

On August 4th, 2025, the Scottish Government's Resilience Room held an emergency meeting to address the aftermath of Storm Floris, which had caused widespread disruption across the country. The meeting was attended by several government ministers, as well as representatives from agencies like the Met Office, Police Scotland, and transport and utility companies.
During the meeting, officials were informed that utilities companies are working to reconnect properties that experienced power outages due to the storm. Additionally, transport authorities are continuing to remove fallen trees and debris from roads and are inspecting the rail network, where 119 incidents were reported, with 85% of them caused by third-party trees.
With winds reaching up to 90mph in some areas, a significant clear-up and repair effort will be required before a full transport service can be restored. ScotRail is urging customers to check for updates before traveling, as the recovery process is expected to take some time.
