Gales, Rain, and Snow Threaten Scotland This Weekend
5 Feb
Summary
- A yellow rain warning is active for central Scotland until midday tomorrow.
- Heavy rain and 60mph gales are expected across Scotland.
- Snowfall is likely to occur at higher elevations later on Thursday morning.

Scotland is currently under a yellow weather warning for heavy rain, which began on the evening of January 5th and will persist until midday on January 6th. This alert covers Central, Tayside & Fife, and Grampian regions. The forecast predicts 60mph gales and substantial rainfall across the country.
Due to the already saturated ground, there is a high probability of surface water flooding, causing hazardous driving conditions from spray, flowing water, or inundated roads. Some melting of existing snow is also anticipated. Later on Thursday morning, rain is expected to transition into snow above 300 to 400 metres.
