South Carolina's Upstate region is anticipating a period of potentially dangerous weather conditions as a heat dome is forecast to settle over the area. High-pressure systems are expected to trap hot air, leading to soaring temperatures and humidity. According to the National Weather Service, heat index values could reach up to 113 degrees starting after the weekend, posing significant risks.

This intense heat buildup is predicted to begin after June 25, with increasing chances of showers and thunderstorms by June 26. As temperatures steadily climb toward the July 4th holiday weekend, the heat index is projected to range from 100 to 103 degrees in many areas, with some locations potentially reaching advisory levels of 105 degrees.

The National Weather Service emphasizes that prolonged exposure to these conditions without adequate cooling or hydration can become life-threatening. Residents are advised to take precautions such as staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and seeking cool environments.
