Northwest India is bracing for a period of significant weather activity. Between January 22 and January 23, regions including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan can expect light to moderate rainfall. The western Himalayan region is forecast to receive heavy rain and snowfall due to an approaching western disturbance.
This weather system is also predicted to bring hailstorms, lightning, and strong winds of 30-40 kmph to the plains of northwestern India. Delhi-NCR, in particular, is expected to be cloudy on January 23, with chances of light rain spells throughout the day and potentially in the evening. Light to moderate fog is anticipated in many areas during morning hours.
Looking further ahead, dense fog is a possibility in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh during the morning and night hours on January 25 and 26. On January 23, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and northern Rajasthan face the risk of hailstorms, according to the India Meteorological Department.
