North Georgia Flooded: Flash Flood Warning Issued

A flash flood warning is in effect for central Fannin and Gilmer Counties in north Georgia, with the alert scheduled to remain active until 4:45 p.m. Friday. Thunderstorms rapidly produced between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain across the warned area, and an additional 2 to 3 inches are anticipated.
Flash flooding is either occurring or expected to begin soon. The National Weather Service indicated potential flooding along small creeks, streams, roads, underpasses, and other low-lying areas. This widespread precipitation threat comes as scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to develop throughout north and central Georgia.
Some storms could intensify into severe events, especially in northeast Georgia, bringing damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall. Separately, a heat advisory remains active through Friday evening for much of east-central Georgia, where heat index values are projected to surpass 105 degrees.
