NJ Under Siege: Severe Storms Lash Garden State

As of Tuesday evening, a tornado watch was issued for eight New Jersey counties, including Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean, and Salem, remaining in effect until 10 p.m. Residents in these areas were advised to stay informed and prepare for potential tornadoes by moving to interior rooms. Earlier, a tornado warning for parts of Sussex and Warren counties expired without official reports of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, widespread showers and thunderstorms brought heavy rain to the state. Multiple flash flood and severe thunderstorm warnings were active, highlighting the risk of flash flooding. A flood watch covered most of New Jersey, excluding Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland counties, though these areas were still susceptible to strong storms. Forecasters anticipate 2 to 5 inches of rain north of Interstate 78 by Wednesday, with 1 to 3 inches elsewhere.
