NJ Braces for Blizzard: Travel Ban, Flight Cancellations

New Jersey is grappling with a significant winter storm that began Sunday, with forecasts indicating heavy snowfall, sleet, and freezing rain. Northern parts of the state, north of I-80, are expected to receive 12 to 18 inches of snow, while southeastern counties anticipate 6 to 8 inches, accompanied by potential ice accumulations. Following the storm, New Jersey is bracing for a prolonged period of dangerously cold temperatures, with wind chills expected to drop between -10 and 0 degrees Fahrenheit through the week. High temperatures from Monday through Wednesday are predicted to remain below 20 degrees, with lows in the single digits. This extreme cold increases the risk of hypothermia and frostbite. While the week is expected to be dry, the accumulated snow will not melt quickly due to the bitter cold. A slight chance of additional snow exists on Thursday.
