The Moscow Region saw its deepest freeze on the night of January 25th, with the towns of Cherusti and Lukhovitsy recording the lowest temperatures at -28.6°C (-19.5°F) and -28.7°C (-19.7°F), respectively.
However, forecasters indicate the peak of this cold snap has likely passed. Warmer air is expected to move in, bringing snow and moderating temperatures to between -10°C and -12°C (14°F to 10°F) for the next three days. January is predicted to conclude with another, milder cold spell.
