Middle TN Braces for Severe Storms: Winds, Tornadoes Possible
10 Mar
Summary
- Middle Tennessee faces a level 2 risk for severe weather on March 11.
- Primary threats include damaging winds, tornadoes, and small hail.
- Storms are expected to move through during the afternoon and evening hours.

Severe weather is forecast for all of Middle Tennessee on March 11, with the National Weather Service issuing a level 2 risk (out of 5). The primary concerns are damaging straight-line winds, with the possibility of isolated large hail and tornadoes. Storms are expected to develop as a strong cold front arrives from the west, bringing temperatures into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.
The main line of storms is predicted to move across the area between 4 p.m. and midnight. While the overall tornado threat is low, the risk increases if discrete storm cells form ahead of the main line or if small spin-ups develop within it. Localized flooding from heavy rain and gusty winds are also anticipated. Conditions are expected to improve overnight into March 12 as the front progresses eastward.
