Consumers Energy is positioning line and field workers on standby to ensure prompt power restoration ahead of a significant winter storm anticipated this week. The utility company has also mobilized gathering trucks and essential materials, demonstrating readiness for any necessary restoration efforts.
The storm is expected to bring strong winds, with gusts potentially reaching 40 to 60 mph, and a wintry mix across Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Several inches of snow are forecast, particularly along and west of U.S. 127, with blowing and drifting snow possibly reducing visibility and creating hazardous travel conditions. Gale Warnings have been issued for the Great Lakes.
In preparation, Consumers Energy is advising its customers to take proactive measures. These include charging all electronic devices, assembling an emergency kit with essentials like flashlights and blankets, unplugging sensitive electronics, and having a food safety plan. Customers can monitor outage information and report issues via the Consumers Energy website or mobile app.
