The Miami metropolitan area endured unusually cold weather on Sunday, February 2nd, 2026, shattering a record low temperature. Miami International Airport registered a frigid 35.1 degrees Fahrenheit, with a wind chill of 27, surpassing the previous February 1st record set in 1909. The frigid conditions, attributed to Winter Storm Gianna, also impacted travel, resulting in 20 flight cancellations in and out of Miami International Airport. Officials noted that baggage processing was delayed due to the weather and record-low temperatures.
However, a significant warming trend is expected, with temperatures projected to climb back to around 68 degrees by Tuesday. The rest of the week, Wednesday and Thursday, will see highs in the low 70s. Despite the coming warmth, nights are expected to dip back into the 40s by Thursday and Friday.
