Maryland Buried Under Heaviest Snow in a Decade
27 Jan
Summary
- Maryland experienced its strongest winter storm in ten years.
- Residents across multiple counties are digging out from snow and ice.
- Snow removal efforts face challenges due to neighborhood street conditions.

Maryland experienced its most powerful winter storm in a decade, blanketing the entire state with snow and ice. Residents across Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Howard, and Harford counties are facing the arduous task of clearing snow and sleet.
In Howard County, while main roads were mostly cleared, neighborhood streets remained untouched, making shoveling difficult. Officials noted that narrow streets and parked cars impede snow removal efficiency. Harford County also reported slow progress, with crews working to clear streets and advising residents to stay home to allow them room.
Anne Arundel County lifted its snow emergency, allowing non-essential travel as cleanup continued. Over 600 hours of plow time were deployed, with crews working to clear roads to a passable standard. Baltimore City entered Phase II of its snow emergency plan, restricting parking on designated routes and working around the clock to clear streets.
