Lucknow Heatwave Easing: Rain Relief Expected Sunday
16 Jul
Summary
- Light rains occurred overnight, but hot and humid weather persists.
- A Bay of Bengal low-pressure system is predicted to bring rain.
- Temperatures in Lucknow reached 36.3°C, higher than normal.
Lucknow is currently experiencing hot and humid weather, with residents grappling with temperatures 2.4 degrees Celsius above normal. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature reached 36.3 degrees Celsius, while the minimum settled at 28 degrees Celsius, 1.9 degrees above normal. Overnight light rains in some parts of the city offered little respite from the sultry conditions.
However, relief is on the horizon. A developing low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is forecast to trigger light to moderate rainfall across the region starting Sunday. This system is expected to bring cloudy conditions and intermittent showers for approximately two to three days, offering a break from the ongoing heat.
Meanwhile, other major cities in the state also recorded high temperatures, with Prayagraj and Jhansi experiencing 39.4 degrees Celsius, and Banda registering 38.8 degrees Celsius.
