Lucknow Heatwave Breaks: Rain Expected Soon!
13 Aug
Summary
- Lucknow experienced hot and humid conditions with temperatures around 36 degrees Celsius.
- Widespread rain is predicted across Uttar Pradesh starting August 14.
- A low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is driving the expected monsoon.
Hot and humid conditions prevailed in Lucknow on Wednesday, with bright sunshine contributing to temperatures around 36 degrees Celsius, exacerbated by high humidity.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for widespread rain across Uttar Pradesh, beginning on August 14.
Mohammad Danish, a senior scientist at the regional meteorological centre, explained that a low-pressure area over the northern Bay of Bengal is expected to strengthen and move northwestward. This system is predicted to cause the monsoon trough to shift over Uttar Pradesh, thereby strengthening monsoon winds.
The enhanced monsoon activity is anticipated to bring rain to the eastern parts of the state first, gradually covering central and western regions between August 14 and August 18.
For Thursday, Lucknow is expected to experience mainly clear skies, with an increase in cloud cover anticipated later in the day. Light rain is possible towards the evening or night, with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to hover around 35 and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively.
