Andaman Sea System Threatens Odisha-Andhra Coast

A low-pressure area currently situated over the North Andaman Sea is forecast to intensify into a depression on Monday and further into a deep depression by Tuesday. This system is moving west-northwestwards and is expected to reach the Odisha-Andhra coast by Wednesday morning.
As the system approaches, Kolkata and other parts of South Bengal are anticipated to experience frequent rain from Tuesday onwards due to increased moisture flow. While meteorologists are still assessing the potential for further intensification, current modeling suggests it will make landfall as a deep depression.
Associated troughs are expected to trigger heavy rainfall in Bengal's coastal districts between September 22 and 26. Kolkata may witness light to moderate rain with occasional heavy spells, accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 kmph. Coastal areas like East and West Midnapore and South 24 Parganas could receive isolated heavy rain. Squally winds of 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, are predicted along the Bengal coast.
