The Regional Meteorological Centre is closely monitoring weather patterns and predicts an increasing likelihood of a nor'wester spell impacting Kolkata and surrounding districts on Thursday.

This anticipated thunderstorm is expected to be accompanied by gusty winds, with a potentially higher intensity predicted for the northern fringes like Dumdum. Met officials noted that increasing moisture incursion at lower levels, combined with heat, is the trigger for these storms. Once the nor'wester strikes, both the mercury and humidity levels are expected to decrease, offering a much-needed temporary respite from the oppressive heat and humidity.
