The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has issued a red alert for sea swell along Kerala's coastline. The warning indicates that waves ranging from 1.1 to 1.8 meters, along with rogue wave activity, may continue until Thursday evening.
Coastal regions, especially low-lying areas, are cautioned about potential seawater intrusion and coastal erosion. However, as of Wednesday night, no adverse incidents were reported, and fishermen noted the sea appeared calm.
INCOIS has specified caution areas stretching from Kappil to Pozhiyoor in the capital, and along various stretches in Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. Similar alerts were issued for the coasts of Kanyakumari, Ramanathapuram, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, and the Lakshadweep islands, Mahe, and Karnataka.
