Several parts of Kashmir experienced subzero temperatures overnight, with Pulwama recording the coldest conditions at minus 4 degrees Celsius. Srinagar itself saw a minimum of minus 2.1 degrees Celsius, and its airport recorded minus 3.4 degrees. Tourist destinations like Pahalgam registered minus 2.6 degrees, while Gulmarg remained relatively warmer.
The Jammu region experienced milder temperatures, with Jammu city recording 9.9 degrees Celsius. However, Ladakh continued to reel under severe cold. Leh recorded a minimum of minus 4.6 degrees Celsius, with Kargil and Nubra Valley also experiencing significantly low temperatures.
The Meteorological Department has issued advisories for residents, particularly those in higher reaches, to exercise caution as the cold snap is expected to persist. This sustained cold is typical for the region during this season.
