Kansas City Storms: Isolated Threats Loom
1 Jun
Summary
- Scattered storms expected Sunday evening and overnight.
- Isolated severe thunderstorms may bring gusty winds and hail.
- Tornado threat remains very low for the Kansas City area.

Following widespread overnight rain, a more scattered storm setup is anticipated for the Kansas City area on Sunday evening and into Monday morning. The overall severe weather risk is low, but isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible.
These storms may bring gusty winds and large hail, though the tornado threat is very low. Unlike the earlier widespread rain, these storms will be isolated, meaning conditions could vary significantly by neighborhood. Warm temperatures and increasing instability will fuel storm development.
Storms are expected to form southwest of Kansas City and move east-northeast. A cluster or line could organize later tonight, impacting the metro around midnight and continuing into the early overnight hours. Storm activity is projected to diminish after approximately 3 a.m. Monday.
