Kanpur Chills: Dense Fog Grips UP Till Jan 4
3 Jan
Summary
- Kanpur division faces dense fog and cold wave conditions until Jan 4.
- Night temperatures are dropping, bringing persistent chilliness.
- Severe cold led to 65 cardiac and 15 stroke patients admitted.

Residents of the Kanpur division are bracing for continued cold weather, with dense fog and cold wave conditions forecasted until January 4. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a bulletin indicating that large parts of Uttar Pradesh will experience these harsh conditions, especially during the night and early morning.
Experts attribute the persistent fog to increased humidity and pollution, exacerbated by northwesterly winds gaining speed during the day. This combination is causing a significant drop in night temperatures, extending the chill into the evenings and daytime. While no significant rainfall is expected, recent showers in Agra division have intensified the cold.
The severe weather has already taken a toll on public health, with numerous cardiac and brain stroke patients admitted to hospitals in Kanpur. On Thursday alone, 65 cardiac patients and 15 stroke patients required emergency medical attention, highlighting the health risks associated with the prevailing cold snap.
