8 Aug
Summary
- Yellow alert issued across Jharkhand from August 6-12
- Orange alert for 3 districts on August 6 due to heavy to very heavy rainfall
- Monsoon trough bringing intense rainfall and thunderstorms

According to the latest weather bulletin from the Ranchi office of the India Meteorological Department, Jharkhand is bracing for heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activities over the next week. On August 6, the Met department has issued a yellow alert across the state, which will remain in effect until August 12.
Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for the districts of West Singhbhum, Seraikela Kharsawan, and East Singhbhum on August 6, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall in these areas. The severe weather is being attributed to a monsoon trough extending from northeast Uttar Pradesh to south Bangladesh, which is expected to bring intense rainfall and thunderstorm activities to various parts of Jharkhand.
The weather bulletin also predicts that isolated places in the west-central, northwestern, and southern parts of the state are likely to experience heavy rainfall on August 12. Gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h are also expected to accompany the thunderstorm activities.
Several parts of Jharkhand have already experienced rainfall in the past few days, with Ranchi recording 1.3 mm, Jamshedpur 1.5 mm, Daltonganj 9.4 mm, Garhwa 6 mm, and Deoghar the highest at 10.5 mm on Friday. The rainfall has brought down the maximum temperatures across the state, with Ranchi recording a drop of 3.2°C from the normal temperature.
