Isaias, now classified as a post-tropical cyclone, is continuing to weaken as it moves inland over Alabama. The storm is forecast to enter the Tennessee Valley over the weekend. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts, and the storm is expected to dissipate by Sunday.
Despite its weakening, Isaias poses a continued threat of rain and flooding. Southern Alabama, the Florida Panhandle, Big Bend, and southwest Georgia could see up to 8 inches of rainfall, with isolated amounts reaching 15 inches. Other parts of the Southeast may receive up to 5 inches, with higher localized totals possible in the Southern Appalachians and coastal Carolinas.
A risk for tornadoes will persist through Saturday afternoon across the eastern Florida Panhandle, Georgia, and the Carolinas. Residents in these areas should remain vigilant for potential severe weather, including flash, urban, and river flooding.
