Ireland Braces for More Flooding as Orange Alerts Issued

Louth has been placed under an orange rainfall warning, expanding the number of counties facing severe weather alerts. This advisory, running from midday Thursday to 6pm Friday, is expected to bring very heavy rain to already saturated ground.
This latest deluge, combined with high river levels and tides, is likely to cause further localised and river flooding, leading to difficult travel conditions. The National Emergency Co-ordination Group anticipates another challenging period, with local authorities undertaking flood prevention measures like deploying sandbags and clearing drains.
Orange warnings are also in effect for Waterford (9am Thursday to 9am Friday) and Wicklow and Dublin (midday Thursday to noon Friday). Yellow warnings cover Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Tipperary, Cavan, Louth, Meath, and Monaghan. Further rain is anticipated next week.
Coastal regions should also be alert for increased risks of wave overtopping and coastal flooding due to strong onshore winds and storm surge. The government has committed to providing financial assistance to homes and businesses impacted by the recent severe weather.
