Influencer Slammed for Vacation Videos During Hurricane Melissa

In the days leading up to Hurricane Melissa's expected landfall in Jamaica on October 28, 2025, influencer Hannah Grubbs shared a series of videos from her vacation on the island. The content ranged from seemingly joking references to the impending storm to more serious "updates" about the situation.

Grubbs' initial TikTok video on October 24th showed her and a fellow traveler walking through the airport, captioned "Us on our way to Jamaica during a hurricane." Over the following days, she continued posting similar content, including a clip of a bartender serving her drinks, with a caption claiming she was "pretending" to ignore the deadly weather event.

Viewers quickly called out Grubbs for her tone-deaf approach, with some comments describing the content as "disgusting" and "really shameful." The Category 5 hurricane was expected to bring winds of at least 157 mph and a storm surge of up to 13 feet to Jamaica's capital and other coastal areas.

In a more serious video on October 27th, Grubbs shared that the hotel had taken precautions, including putting X's on the glass doors to prevent shattering. She also expressed her "prayers for Jamaica" and "the whole island." However, her earlier vacation-focused posts continued to draw criticism from those concerned about the impending disaster.
