India Braces for Rain and Heatwave Mayhem

India is currently experiencing a varied weather scenario, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a combination of isolated rainfall and heatwave conditions across the nation. From July 15 to July 17, 2026, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab are expected to face hot and humid weather. Similar conditions will affect East and West Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, and Coastal Karnataka during this period.

Delhi-NCR anticipates partly cloudy skies with hot and humid conditions on July 16, 2026. Maximum temperatures are projected between 37°C to 39°C, with minimums ranging from 27°C to 29°C. Winds will be predominantly from the west, reaching up to 25 kmph in the morning.

Significant rainfall is forecast for parts of Southern India, including Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, from July 15 to July 21. Kerala and Mahe will see rain on July 15-16 and July 21. Coastal Karnataka expects rain between July 15-17, while North and South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, and East Rajasthan will experience it from July 16 to July 21.

A heatwave warning has been issued for 19 districts in Tamil Nadu on July 17, 2026. Madurai, Vellore, and Chennai are among the districts expected to reach temperatures around 39°C, with high humidity contributing to uncomfortable conditions. Additionally, eastern states like West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha are slated for widespread rainfall from July 15 to July 21.
