Southeast Uttar Pradesh is on high alert for extremely heavy rainfall on Wednesday, August 19, with forecasts predicting over 20 cm of precipitation. This intense weather is driven by a weakening system moving inland from Jharkhand and Bihar. Localized flooding and traffic disruptions are potential consequences.
Northern and eastern India will also experience significant monsoon activity. Heavy showers are anticipated in Uttarakhand, western Uttar Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha. Delhi expects cloudy skies with multiple rain spells throughout the day.
Further south, Mumbai and the Konkan-Goa region are set for widespread rain, though no heavy-rain warning has been issued. Parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada might see thunderstorms. The Northeast is forecast to receive widespread rain, with Assam and Meghalaya expecting heavy showers.
Southern India is not spared, with isolated heavy rain expected in coastal Karnataka, south interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Thunderstorms and gusty winds up to 60 kmph are possible in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Fishermen are advised to avoid the northern Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of West Bengal, Odisha, and north Andhra Pradesh due to rough seas.
