An active western disturbance is set to bring a spell of intense rainfall with hailstorm activity to northwest India and Madhya Pradesh on April 8. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also indicated isolated heavy rainfall over the Kashmir valley on April 7 and Himachal Pradesh on April 8. Eastern India is expected to experience a similar intense rainfall spell, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on April 8.
Daytime temperatures across most of northwest, central, and east India are likely to remain below or near normal for the next five days, with a gradual increase expected thereafter. Weather forecasting service Windy predicts specific rainfall amounts for several cities. Mumbai is expected to receive 0.3 mm of rain on April 8, while New Delhi anticipates 4.2 mm. Chennai is projected to have 0.3 mm, and Kolkata could see between 0.3 to 6 mm of rainfall on the same day. Shimla is forecasted to receive between 1 to 3.5 mm of rain.
