Parts of Himachal Pradesh, specifically its low and mid hills, have witnessed light to moderate rain, while higher elevations experienced light snowfall. This weather pattern, occurring under an orange alert, has led to a significant drop in temperatures across the state. The districts of Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, Shimla, Solan, Kangra, and Sirmaur saw rainfall.
In Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti, including mountain passes, light snowfall was reported. The Lahaul-Spiti administration confirmed that 18 roads remained blocked due to continuous snowfall since Thursday, affecting key routes like Darcha to Sarchu. Consequently, tourist and commercial activities were banned near the North Portal of the Atal Tunnel due to avalanche risks.
The state's maximum temperatures fell by 1°C to 7°C. Dharamshala recorded 23°C, Manali 15.2°C, and Mandi 23.5°C, all below their usual averages. Una registered the highest maximum temperature at 33°C, while Keylong had the lowest minimum at 1.8°C. An orange and yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms and gusty winds on April 3 and 4.
