Himachal Pradesh is currently experiencing unseasonal light to moderate rain and snowfall, causing a noticeable decrease in both minimum and maximum temperatures. Fresh snowfall has been observed over the past 24 hours in the higher elevations of Lahaul and Spiti and Kullu districts.
The Shimla Meteorological Office has issued an orange warning for April 7 and 8, alerting residents to potential hailstorms in four to five districts. This alert also includes warnings for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts.
Intermittent rainfall has been recorded across various parts of the state, with Sarahan and Dharamshala receiving the highest amounts. Temperatures have dropped significantly, with minimums falling by 2-5 degrees Celsius and maximums by 2-8 degrees Celsius in many locations. Tabo registered the lowest minimum temperature at 0.6 degrees Celsius.
A fresh western disturbance is expected to impact Northwest India starting Wednesday, with a wet spell predicted in Himachal Pradesh until April 10. Despite the current precipitation, Himachal Pradesh has recorded a 12% deficit in rainfall for the pre-monsoon season from March 1 to April 4.
