Himachal Pradesh faces an impending active monsoon spell, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next seven days. This weather pattern, expected to intensify from Tuesday, July 28, is predicted to bring widespread showers until August 1.
Specific warnings include isolated heavy to very heavy rain from July 28 to July 31, with heavy rainfall anticipated on August 1. Orange alerts are in effect for Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur on July 28, with subsequent alerts for other districts on July 29 and July 30.
A yellow alert also covers several districts, highlighting the widespread nature of the expected precipitation. The IMD cautions that this intense rainfall could trigger localized landslides, mudslides, and flash floods, particularly in the mid and low hills.
Furthermore, water levels in rivers, streams, and seasonal nullahs are projected to rise sharply. Associated risks include waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and reduced visibility.
