Himachal Pradesh Braces for Dense Fog and Cold

Himachal Pradesh is bracing for a significant spell of dense fog, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a warning from December 18 to December 22. The hill state, already grappling with a severe cold wave, is expected to see these foggy conditions intensifying, particularly during the early morning hours.

Shimla anticipates partly cloudy skies today, transitioning to dense fog overnight. While the IMD predicts dry weather for most of the state over the next five days, light rains or snow are possible in higher altitudes on December 20 and 21. Yellow warnings for dense fog have been issued for parts of the Bhakra reservoir and Balh Valley on December 18 and 19.

This impending dense fog is likely to disrupt travel, potentially impacting airports, highways, and railway routes across the region. Authorities are cautioning about difficult driving conditions and slower journey times. The fog may also exacerbate respiratory health issues for vulnerable populations and cause eye irritation due to pollutants.
