Highlands Brace for Wintry Conditions as Unsettled Weather Hits UK

According to the latest weather forecasts, the UK is set to experience a significant shift in weather patterns in the coming weeks, with the Scottish Highlands potentially seeing "widespread snowfall" in late October.

The unsettled conditions are expected to hit most of the country, with low pressure systems bringing wind and rain. Temperatures are likely to be near average in the north and above average in the southeast. Depressions are predicted to track further south than usual, meaning the south may be the wettest region relative to normal, while northwestern Britain sees closer to average rainfall.

Despite the wet and windy weather, eastern Scotland and northeast England could actually see more sunshine than usual due to the weather setup. However, there is still uncertainty over just how wet the overall period will be.

The Met Office's long-range forecast for October 26 to November 9 confirms the changeable conditions, with showers, longer spells of rain, and strong winds expected at times, though there will also be some temporary drier interludes.
