Heavy snowfall has significantly impacted the mountainous regions of Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand, transforming popular tourist destinations into snowy landscapes. In the higher elevations, snow has accumulated to depths of 2 to 3 feet, severely disrupting essential services and leading to widespread travel difficulties. The plains of Jammu & Kashmir have also experienced substantial snowfall, with around one foot recorded.
National highways and local link roads have been rendered impassable due to landslides, fallen trees, and thick snow cover.
