Ahmedabad continues to endure significant heat, with Sunday's maximum temperature reaching 40.6°C, a notable 3.8°C above average. Nighttime temperatures have also remained high, hovering around 29.5°C. This heatwave has characterized the month, with daily highs consistently exceeding 40°C.
The northern limit of the southwest monsoon is currently positioned at Surat. However, there is anticipation for the monsoon to progress into other parts of Gujarat later in the current week. This development is expected to bring relief from the prevailing dry conditions.
Relief from the heat is forecast to begin on Thursday, with maximum temperatures across Gujarat expected to drop. Following this temperature decrease, moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated in Vadodara and southern Gujarat regions. Until Monday, coastal areas in Saurashtra and Kutch will experience persistently humid and uncomfortable conditions.
On Sunday, Vallabh Vidyanagar recorded the highest temperature in the state at 41.3°C. Other notable high temperatures included Rajkot at 41.1°C, Gandhinagar at 40.8°C, and Ahmedabad at 40.6°C.
