Freeze Warning Issued Across Oklahoma and Northern Texas

On Saturday, November 8th, 2025, the National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma issued a freeze warning for a wide area covering over 50 counties across central, eastern, northern, northwestern, southeastern, southern, southwestern, and western Oklahoma, as well as northern Texas. The warning, which was issued at 10:56 a.m., stated that sub-freezing temperatures as low as 22°F were expected from 9 p.m. on Sunday, November 9th to 9 a.m. on Monday, November 10th.

The National Weather Service cautioned that the freeze conditions could prove harmful, potentially killing crops and other sensitive vegetation, as well as possibly damaging unprotected outdoor plumbing. Water in pipes begins to solidify into ice once temperatures dip below the freezing point of 32°F, and the American Red Cross advised that the pipes most vulnerable to freezing in homes include outdoor faucets, swimming pool supply lines, water sprinkler lines, and water supply pipes in unheated areas.

The weather report urged residents to take immediate steps to protect their property, such as wrapping or draining pipes to prevent them from freezing. With the first cold front of the season approaching, the National Weather Service emphasized the importance of preparing for the impending freeze to minimize the risk of damage.
